Greetings all,

The Canton of Elvegast is hosting the 33rd Annual Tourney of Ymir on the weekend of 8-10 February, 2008 at Betsy-Jeff Penn 4H Center in Reidsville, NC.

Most of the event activities occur on Saturday. Friday is usually for setting up, and Sunday is mainly given over to cleaning up and loading out. (Help is always appreciated – this is one of the best ways to make new friends and get to know people better.)
We ask/beg that you read the following section very carefully and plan as far in advance as possible if you or your guests will be needing loaner gear.....

Loaner Garb & Feastgear

Unlike Renaissance faires, SCA events are not performances or displays to entertain the general public. Events are where we hope to immerse ourselves in the period. Everyone attending an SCA event is expected to dress the part.

If you're needing loaner garb or feastgear (tableware/eating utensils) for the Tourney of Ymir, or if you're bringing someone who will need loaner gear, we ask that you contact your local Chatelaine (person in charge of assisting newcomers) at least a week or two in advance.  While there will be a limited supply of loaner garb available at the event, you’re more likely to find an outfit that fits comfortably and looks good on you if you make arrangements in advance.

Remember that the chatelaines may have other Ymir preparations to make as well, and being asked to find garb and feastgear for 10 people a few days before the event when you have projects to finish can be stressful. In any case, they'll be happy to help as best they can.

It's helpful if you let them know if the person needing the garb is male or female, their height and weight, their approximate hip, waist and chest measurement (dress size if it's a lady), and their general colour preferences. You can even ask the chatelaine about making arrangements to visit them in advance to try things on. If schedules permit, this is the best way to make sure that the person ends up with an outfit that suits them.
Important note about Children/Minors at SCA Events:
Minors attending an SCA event must present either a signed Minor Waiver, or a signed blue SCA membership card, before admission to the event. (Waiver forms will be available at the gate.)

Minors under the age of 18 are not permitted to enter (or remain on) an event site without an adult who is designated as being responsible for them. If the adult in question is not the minor's parent or guardian, that adult must present a Minor Medical Authorization Form, signed by the parent or legal guardian at registration at the event. This medical authorization form
must be notarized. (We must have the form even if you are a blood relative such as a grandparent).  Click here for more information about this formDon't make us turn away your minor event attendee at the gate!
